Recharge your Baofeng Radio Battery When the Power is Out
What do you do when the power is out and you need to recharge your Baofeng radio?
Disasters and power outages can happen at any time and it’s important for me to keep my communications channel open in case of emergency. Cell phones may not be available and my trusty ham radio gear will come to the rescue. Without electric power, there needs to be an alternative method to recharge your Baofeng radio batteries.
One method I use is to recharge the battery for my Baofeng UV-5R battery is with a portable power bank like the Blackweb Lithium Ion battery. Baofeng batteries need to be recharged using the Baofeng battery base and in this case the Baofeng USB Smart Charger Transformer Cable.
To recharge your Baofeng radio, simply plug in the USB charging cable into one of the USB ports on the Lithium Ion battery pack and the other end into the port on the back of the Baofeng charger base.
Over time, the Blackweb battery seemed to lose performance and I’ve recently upgraded my portable battery with the Anker Portable 10000mAh Battery Pack.
